Summary | 0000703: Omnetpp/Omnest 4.3.0 IDE: Eclipse crashes in soup_session_feature_detach with Fedora 19 / new versions of WebKitGTK
Description | Omnest crashes randomly on Fedora 19, KDE 4.11.4, with a fatal error in soup_session_feature_detach as described in https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=404776 [^] Omnest IDE starts up, but before I do any work, it disappears after a few seconds, and in ~/.xsession-errors an Eclipse crash report can be found. The problem does NOT occur every time after a fresh boot. For a couple of days, the IDE works fine, then the problem reappears. When the problem appears, I can remove the lock file from the .metadata folder, but the IDE crashes again on a second attempt. Apparently, this problem is due to a new version of WebKitGTK; it was reproduced with all 3.8, 4.2 and 4.3 versions of eclipse-swt. Workaround for IDE in Fedora 19, following https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=404776: [^] Patch omnest-4.3/ide/omnest.ini by adding the following single line at the very end: -Dorg.eclipse.swt.browser.DefaultType=mozilla => IDE again works normally. I verified that the problem is resolved in a newer Eclipse version, namely in Eclipse Kepler version 4.3.1.v20131014-1715 (no workaround needed in eclipse.ini).

OMNeT++ 4.4 (to be released in a few days) is already based on Kepler (version 4.3.1), so this should be resolved then. |

Resolved by basing the OMNeT++ IDE on Eclipse 4.3.1 |
